Costa Rica

Costa Rica

Costa Rica has it all: nowhere else can you gaze upon a volcano while soaking in a hot spring one day, hike deep into a rain forest the next, and end your trip learning to surf at a luxurious seaside resort. Miles of pristine beaches on the Pacific and Caribbean coasts, fabulous national parks with plentiful opportunities for wildlife viewing, and world-renowned eco-lodges have made this one of the hottest destinations around. The welcoming people of Costa Rica, and their mellow pura vida lifestyle, add warmth to every visit.

San Jose & Central Valley

San Jose is perched at an elevation of 1150m, with the Poas, Barva, and Irazu volcanoes rising gracefully over the city. With its fabulous scenery and charming towns, the Central Valley region is perfect for scenic drives. A tour of the Central Valley must include the visit of one of the many coffee fincas, and of the active volcanoes Poas and Irazu. Some of the best whitewater rafting in the world can be had on Rio Pacuare.

Northern Region

The vast Northern Region has two of Costa Rica’s biggest attractions: Arenal volcano and Monteverde cloud forest. Spend any amount of time here and you can partake of—take a deep breath—hot-springs soaking, volcano (albeit now dormant) viewing, treetop walking, rain-forest hiking, windsurfing, kitesurfing, wildlife viewing, bird-watching and bungee jumping. The zip-line canopy tour deserves special mention. The activity was invented in Costa Rica and has spread to all corners of the planet.

North Pacific

Costa Rica’s North Pacific coast not only has beaches for every taste, but it is also home to several active volcanoes and some beautiful national parks, including Rincon de la Vieja National Park, which features hot springs and bubbling mud pots, pristine waterfalls, and an active volcanic crater; and Palo Verde National Park, a beautiful expanse of mangroves, wetlands, and savannah.

Central Pacific

The Central Pacific region of Costa Rica encompasses a sublime coastline dotted with palm-lined beaches and national parks, including beautiful Manuel Antonio National Park.
The hotels perched on the forested ridge of Manuel Antonio have breathtaking views of beaches, jungle, and the shimmering Pacific dotted with rocky islets.

Southern Region

The remote and rugged Southern Pacific coastline – from Bahia Ballena to the Osa Peninsula – is peppered with small, picture-perfect beaches with surf crashing against dark volcanic rocks, backed by steaming, thick jungle.
Nature lodges scattered along the coast are hemmed in by the rain forest, which is home to troops of monkeys, sloths, scarlet macaws, and hundreds of other bird species, while whales and dolphins cavort in offshore waters.

Caribbean

Nature has thrived on the rugged and rustic Caribbean coast of Costa Rica – you will meet resident sloths, hear the call of howler monkeys and spot alligators on the vast network of canals.
You can also laze around on the uncrowded palm-lined beaches and  tuck into the area's unique flavours, such as jerk chicken, grilled snapper and rondon (spicy seafood gumbo).
