Painting Palopo
PaintingSanta Catarina Palopo
The community project "Pintando Santa Catarina Palopo" uses art and traditional designs and colours to transform Santa Catarina Palopo, on the shore of Lake Atitlan, into a beautiful, thriving, and productive town. The objective is to bring the community together through art, celebrate traditional culture, and, importantly, power the local economy by attracting visitors.
Since 2017, the community has been working towards painting the town's 850 houses, as well as municipal buildings. To date, 688 houses have been painted.
On our visit we will learn everything about this remarkable project and get a chance to leave our mark by painting on a wall.
