Few places are as remote, romantic, intimate or idyllic as Los Roques, an archipelago composed of some 350 tiny islands sprinkled in the crystal-clear waters of the Venezuelan Caribbean. Only one of those islands, Gran Roque, boasts a bona fide town, tiny as it is, with a handful of wonderful posadas, bars and eateries. The sandy beaches of Los Roques are uncommonly white, even by high Caribbean standards, and coral reefs here are home to more than 300 species of fish.
